The Mako is the preferred choice for reefkeepers, aquarists with demanding water needs and anyone who wants the extra edge in water quality at an affordable price. The high quality DOW reverse osmosis membrane produces 100 gal/day output. The standard unit comes with sediment and carbon pre-filters which greatly enhance the membrane life. The chloramine unit comes with a prefilter and our exclusive organic, chlorine and ammonia (chloramine) removal filters which will greatly extend the life of your DI. The final 2 stages are color changing high efficiency DI cartridges with the second cartridge putting a final purification step on your water as well as acting as a backup if the first DI cartridge is used up and you didn't get around to changing it.

Ammonia (chloramines) can shorten the life of your deionization cartridges. By replacing your carbon filter with a NH2CL BLASTER you will remove almost all of the chloramines and greatly extend the life of your DI. The chloramine upgrade unit comes with two organic, chlorine and ammonia (chloramine) removal filter cartridges, an empty canister and the fitting you will need to connect the canister. Put this new canister in front of your existing sediment filter canister and put the sediment filter in this new canister. (This is an excellent time to replace your sediment filter!) Then put the included NH2CL BLASTER cartridge in the canister where you had your sediment prefiter originally. Now replace your existing carbon filter with the second NH2CL BLASTER cartridge.When water comes into your water filter unit it should go through the sediment pre-filter first and then through the two NH2CL BLASTER cartridges which are in series. Note: You will need two NH2CL BLASTER cartridges in series to effectively remove all the ammonia (chloramines) before it gets to your membrane and deionization cartridge. |
