PET DOORS
PATIO 1

Pet 1 Products brings to market a new and feature packed pet door for sliding glass doors.
This door fits aluminum framed doors and has a much wider adjustment range than most of it's competitors. The height adjusts via a gas shock mechanism which extends the top of the pet door into the top track for the slider. This gas shock puts positive pressure on the top track at all times, holding the door in place and preventing rattles.

The door has dual pane tempered glass for thermal efficiency and has a double thick flap as well. The flap seals to the sides of the frame via fuzzy weather strips and has magnets on bottom to hold it shut. The flap is soft, but it swings open on a hinge at the top. This hinged flap makes a big difference in longevity of the flaps, because the flap doesn't have to flex back and forth at the top to open. This door also has the unique feature of being able to use any of the three flap sizes in the same frame, and the flap assemblies are sold separately. This makes it easy to adjust to any size pet. In addition to being able to change out the flaps, you can also move them up and down in the frame, changing the rise dimension. This is particularly useful when there are different sized pets in the same house. The pet door can be adjusted so that it is low enough to the ground for the smallest pet, and then a tall enough pet flap can be used to accomodate the largest pet in the household.
FEATURES:HOW TO MEASURE FOR A PET1 DOOR
Where to measure: The graphic to the right shows where to measure the slider for pet door fitment. Measure inside the track from the very top to the very bottom, and choose a door with an adjustment range that fits your measurement. If you can't get down to the bottom track because of the rail, this is not usually a problem. All of the pet doors have a notch in the bottom to accept that rail and it usually won't affect fitment unless it is taller than 1/2". If your door is within 1/2 inch of the bottom of the range, call us to verify fitment. Example: Door measures 74 3/4" and the adjustment range is 74 1/2 to 77 1/2". |

Can you still get through the door? A panel pet door takes up some of the available room in your slider. A safe way to estimate the width of the panel you are choosing is to add 5 inches to the flap width for the full panel width. A panel with a 10 inch wide flap will use about 15 inches of your available space in the slider. With this in mind, can you still get through the door? If not, this door may not be for you. |

HOW TO MEASURE YOUR PET
Step 1: Find out your minimum flap width. Measuring your dog or cat will lead you to believe you need a much larger door than is actually necessary. The easiest way to get an accurate measurement is to open a door just wide enough that your pet can get thru, and then measure the width of that opening. This is your minimum flap width, you can add an inch to make things more comfortable.
Step 2: Find out your pet's height. Measure your pet to the top of his/her back at the front shoulder. The top of the pet door flap should be at or slightly above this height.
Step 3: Find out your pet's clearance height. Take a measurement from the floor to your pet's chest. This is the clearance, and your pet door flap should start at or slightly below this measurement. On a pet door for a wood or steel door, you can choose to mount the pet door at whatever height is comfortable for the animals. On sliding glass door panels the distance from the floor to the bottom of the flap is called the rise measurement and is a fixed height (not adjustable).
If your pet is not fully grown: To estimate the adult size of your puppy or kitten refer to the breed standards. If in doubt call us, we have some good reference material that can help to make the right decision.
